I get excited. Ok, I get really excited, really easy. And that right there is my blessing and curse. Because you see I will get so excited about something and so hyped about a topic/idea/plan but then…. I freeze a little.
I will gain up the confidence to come up with some great things I can do, but then often it goes something like this:
A) I get stuck on which route to take to get to this plan’s outcome (how to start, which way is best)
Or B) I end up feeling not ready or fully equipped to bring this plan to life so I just have to wait on it until I am “ready”.
And here we are. This blog was supposed to go out weeks ago. Samara and I were brainstorming some game plans for the upcoming months. We had our ideas, set plans, really were feeling “official” going into 2021. But… I messed up the plan because you guessed it—I wasn’t ready.
Well friends, that is exactly my point.
This topic is one God has been laying on my heart for quite some time and yet still, even still… I couldn’t quite get the words out because each time I kept coming back to it, I wasn’t ready; I was missing something.
These two little words have been circling my head and heart for weeks.
Step into.
Yup, step into what God is calling you to. Kinda ironic that those two little words have been hyping me up so much lately, but yet when I get ready to write this blog, to step into this space that I feel God has called me to.. I can’t.
What is something that you feel a nudge or spark or excitement about but yet you still feel like you are stepping around instead of stepping into?
I was listening to one of my favorite Christian podcasts when the guest said something that literally LIT the spark inside me and got the ball rolling.
"I’ve crossed a million finish lines, but God’s never laced up my shoes for me. He said it’s time to get to work, it’s time to try things.”
WOW. I’m not sure about you, but to me that hit home. We have got to take a step. God can do BIG things with our lives but we often make it so much harder on Him by not being willing to take a step into the direction He is calling us to. He WILL meet us, guide us, and help us through it, but we have to be willing to even lace up our shoes.
This phrase really made me take a hard look at the areas of my life where I am truly coasting by. Every time I think about lacing up my shoes I seem to hesitate just long enough to let doubt set in.
I hear myself and my friends saying things like: I’m not ready, what if this isn’t God’s plan for my life, I’m just going to wait a little longer. Well, guess what, time and time again the people in the bible who weren’t “ready” actually made the biggest impacts. Not because they magically figured it out but rather they had enough trust in God to step into where He was leading them.
Moses: He straight up told God he wasn’t ready or the man for the job
Jonah: Literally ran away because he wasn’t ready for where God was asking him to step into.
Gideon: Was hiding because he wasn’t ready for what God was about to use him for
Joseph: Could have easily said he wasn’t ready- he was sitting in prison not out in the world perfecting his skills.
But guess what, spoiler alert… God saw their potential. He knew they weren’t “ready” but he laid it on their heart for a reason. Think of all the works that if those individuals would have missed had they not stepped into the calling the Lord had for them.
So let me leave you with this thought. What are you not stepping into? What are you not embracing? I hope that this lights a spark in you to get the wheels turning of how you can take that teeny tiny step into whatever God is nudging you toward, because believe me I bet it is there for a reason and you’ll never know if you don’t step into it.
